Canon Fodder: The Taming of the Shrew

With our 2014 production of Othello GreenStage will complete Shakespeare’s canon! We’re continuing our celebratory look back at every play.

Today’s play is The Taming of the Shrew, performed by GreenStage in 1989, 2002, and 2012.

The Taming of the Shrew was the first play ever performed by GreenStage, back in 1989. Cynthia Mix played Kate and John Olive portrayed Petruchio; they’re pictured above. The 2002 version was directed by Laura Garcia and featured Amelia Meckler as Kate and David J. Dodge as Petruchio (right). GreenStage managing director Ken Holmes played Baptista and board member Pete Burford was Gremio. We did Shrew a third time in 2012, with Allison Standley as Kate and Tom Dewey as Petruchio.
