The summer of 2008 marks GreenStage's 20th year of presenting free Shakespeare in the Park.

On the schedule this summer are two of Shakespeare's greatest hits:

Hamlet

directed by Susanna Wilson and starring Shawn Law in the title role, and

Twelfth Night

directed by longtime GreenStage company member Amelia Meckler.

Both shows will run from July 11 through August 16 in parks in and around Seattle.

The venues on this summer’s tour include seven Seattle parks (Volunteer, Discovery, Woodland, Magnuson, Seward, Lincoln, and Camp Long) as well as Dottie Harper Park in Burien, Lynndale Park in Lynnwood, Fall City Park in Fall City, and Redmond City Hall.

The complete schedule below is still being finalized and is subject to change.

GreenStage FAQ
  • Do I need to make reservations or get tickets?
Nope, just show up and watch the show. Although, for a good spot on the grass, we recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early.

  • What should I bring?
Bring a blanket or a chair. We ask that audience members with chairs sit towards the back so as not to block the view of those on the ground.

  • Can we bring a picnic?
YES, please bring a picnic lunch, dinner, or snack. We might even take your leftovers for you.

  • What's the weather like?
Be prepared for all weather. Sun block and drinking water for hot days, jackets or blankets for the cool evenings. Umbrellas or rain gear for rain shows. If you use an umbrella, please be considerate of those around you.

  • What if it rains?
Our general rule is that if an audience is willing to sit in the rain, we are willing to give them a show. This of course depends on just how wet it gets, and how much of an audience there is. We will cancel the show in the case of lightning.
