Canon Fodder: Romeo & Juliet

With our 2014 production of Othello GreenStage will complete Shakespeare's canon! Only about 10 theater companies in the entire world have done it! We're continuing our celebratory look back at every play.

Today's play is Romeo and Juliet, which GreenStage has performed twice, in 1990 and again in 2010.

The 1990 show was just the second put on by the company. In the photo above the cast gathers around the fallen Tybalt.

The 2010 version was directed by Corey McDaniel and featured Ryan Higgins and Carolyn Marie Monroe in the title roles of the doomed young lovers. The cast also included Lorrie Fargo, Mari Geasair, Matthew Gilbert, Daniel A. Guttenberg, Jon-Erik Hegstad, Annie Rose Hughes, Josh Krupke, Sara Mountjoy-Pepka, Eli Sklov Simons, and Caleb Slavens. They were a festive bunch, as evidenced by the photo at right.
