Canon Fodder: Henry IV, Part 2

With our 2014 production of Othello GreenStage will complete Shakespeare's canon! We're continuing our celebratory look back at every play.

Today's play is Henry IV, Part 2, performed by GreenStage in 2002. Linda Lombardi, who directed Part 1 in 2000, was back at the helm of Part 2, and Jason Marr and Don MacEllis reprised their roles as Hal and Falstaff, respectively. MacEllis played Falstaff for almost all of the shows in the Henry IV plays, except for a couple of shows in 2002 when a back injury forced him to the sidelines and Ken Holmes stepped in, on book, to fill the role. That was a big task; some folks call Part 2 "the Falstaff play."

That's MacEllis as Falstaff, about to enjoy a bit of sack, in the photo above.

One other interesting note: at a performance of Henry IV, Part 2, at Woodland Park, a couple got engaged on stage. We wonder how they're doing!
