Technical Director / Scenic Coordinator

GreenStage is seeking a Technical Director for our summer touring productions of Shakespeare in the Park with the possibility of expanding into a year-round role.

Our 2024 season runs from July 12 through August 18.

  • Twelfth Night – directed by Erin Day
  • Henry VI, Parts 2 & 3 – directed by Zanne Gerrard
  • BACKYARD BARD – All’s Well that Ends Well and Julius Caesar– directed by Sarah Stillion
Backyard Bard is two 1-hour plays both performed by the same cast of four actors.

We perform in public parks in Seattle, Fall City, Lynnwood, and Burien with performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, with matinees on weekends. The two full-length shows each also have one Thursday evening performance (Lynnwood). Each production has approximately 15 performances.

GreenStage is an all-volunteer organization. However, we provide a stipend to all actors and members of the production team as a thank-you and to help cover travel expenses.

BASICS

Our shows are produced simply, and our sets are intentionally kept minimal. The Technical Director is charged with acquiring, repairing, and preparing technical needs for the shows. This includes acquiring, designing, painting, and/or building scenic pieces for all three tours (most pieces are pulled from current stock). The Technical Director also maintains and repairs our footlights and sound systems both before and during the season.  We may be able to provide a place to build if needed, as well as budget for building and repairs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Communicate and coordinate with all directors regarding scenic needs in a timely manner.
  • Acquire, design, and/or build required set pieces.
  • Meet agreed on deadlines for set delivery.
  • Be available on an as-needed basis for emergency repairs throughout the season.
  • Maintain/repair light boxes and sound equipment as needed.

A $500 stipend is paid at the end of the run.
