2024 season Shakespeare in the Park

Sound Operators

GreenStage is looking for people to set up and run our simple sound system that is used to amplify what’s happening on stage as part of our 2024 Shakespeare in the Park team.

Sound Operators

GreenStage is seeking a Sound Operator for each of our three summer touring productions of Shakespeare in the Park.

Our 2024 season runs from July 12 through August 18.

  • Twelfth Night – directed by Erin Day
  • Henry VI, Parts 2 & 3 – directed by Zanne Gerrard
  • BACKYARD BARD – All’s Well that Ends Well and Julius Caesar– directed by Sarah Stillion
Backyard Bard is two 1-hour plays both performed by the same cast of four actors.

We perform in public parks in Seattle, Fall City, Lynnwood, and Burien with performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, with matinees on weekends. The two full-length shows each also have one Thursday evening performance (Lynnwood). Each production has approximately 15 performances.

Sound is not added until final Tech Rehearsals during the week leading up to opening.

GreenStage is an all-volunteer organization. However, we provide a stipend to all actors and members of the production team as a thank-you and to help cover travel expenses.

BASICS

Our simple sound systems each consist of a small board, two speakers and speaker stands, three border (floor) microphones, mic cables, extension cords, and a battery power source, all of which must be set up before and taken down after each performance. Prior experience working with microphones and sound board is a plus but not a requirement. We do not use recorded sound or sound cues.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic knowledge of setting up and running sound equipment.
  • Reliable transportation to get you to and from the parks.

RESPONSIBILITIES AT EACH PERFORMANCE LOCATION

  • Arrive at least one hour ahead of showtime. (It’s much easier to run speaker and mic cables before the audience arrives.)
  • Set up sound system.
  • Run a sound check before the show.
  • Monitor sound levels during the show.
  • Take down and pack up sound equipment after the show.

A $500 stipend is paid at the end of the run.
