GreenStage Announces 25th Anniversary Season!
Our annual Shakespeare in the Park offerings will be KING LEAR, to be directed by Artistic Director Erin Day, and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM directed by Ken Michels. Both shows run from July 12 though August 17, 2013, in parks in and around Seattle.
In addition to our main program, we are introducing our Backyard Bard series. This series will include abbreviated productions of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Led by director Mok Moser, each show will run just under an hour and both will be performed by the same cast of four actors, and a musician. This series will travel to smaller neighborhood parks where our full length shows just won't fit. Backyard Bard is also available for private parties, school performances, libraries, and events.
As always, GreenStage will also present the Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival, now in its 12th year. The festival will be on July 13-14 in Volunteer Park and will include performances by GreenStage, Wooden O, Theater Schmeater, Balagan Theatre, Jet City Improv, Shakespeare Northwest, Last Leaf Productions, and Young Shakespeare Workshop.
HARD BARD returns this fall with The Bacchae by Euripides, directed by Teresa Thuman. That's right, we're going Greek with a bloody tale of the god of wine and fertility, Dionysus, and his return to Thebes in order to punish the city for not letting people worship him. And as always, things will get bloody.
