Generous GreenStage suppoters contributed more than $6,000 in support of our FREE Shakespeare in the Park productions and educational programs during the Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG day of fundraising May 5. This is a tremendous help at this time of year as we prepare for our 27th summer of plays. Special thanksBIG to the Seattle Foundation, which cooked up this event that just keeps getting bigger and better every year and gives critical support to scores of nonprofit organizations in our area. More than 39,000 people contributed $16.3 million through GiveBIG on Tuesday. Wow!
Of course, we would be delighted to stretch the support. If you were one of 55 donors to GreenStage, please check in with your employer to find out if they match contributions. Every dollar helps!
Special congratulations to contributor Alan Gibbs; we drew Alan's name out of a Shakespearean hat at random, meaning he won a premium Queen's Box experience at one of our plays this summer. The Queen's Box is, naturally, the best seat in the house, right up front, with comfy chairs, a basket of snacks and beverages, and some of our famed chocolate Shakespeare coins that add a little extra cachet to each show. Alan, we'll be in touch to arrange your Queen's Box day at the park. And speaking of premiums, 21 donors gave $100 or more and will receive one of our official GreenStage picnic blankets, exactly what you need for a cozy Shakespeare in the Park day.
GreenStage is gearing up for our 27th season of FREE Shakespeare in the Park! We will be performing full-length productions of The Two Noble Kinsmen and Much Ado About Nothing, plus Backyard Bard versions of The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Macbeth. We're also offering nine educational Shakespeare Summer Camps for Kids. Your financial support makes it all happen.
