Canon Fodder: Measure for Measure

With our 2014 production of Othello GreenStage will complete Shakespeare's canon! We're continuing our celebratory look back at every play. Why such a big deal? Our best information is that only nine other theater companies IN THE WORLD have performed all of Shakespeare's plays, and GreenStage is about to become the tenth!

Today's play is Measure for Measure, which GreenStage actually performed twice in 1996.

An indoor version, performed at the Langston Hughes Playhouse in the spring, was directed by Patrick Vest. While GreenStage typically plays the texts pretty traditionally, this production was different, set in Washington, DC with the “Duke” being President of the United States. The summer outdoor show, directed by David J. Dodge, was far more traditional and used much of the same cast.

Sadly, we have no photos of this production. Shoot one our way if you have one!
